Amy completed her Bachelors of Nursing degree from the University of Michigan in 1997. She spent 3 years in New Mexico and California as a traveling nurse in Labor and Delivery before returning to Michigan in 2001. She completed her Certificate in Nurse Midwifery in 2003 and Masters in Nursing in 2005, both from the University of Midwifery and Family Nursing . Before joining Eastside Gynecology and Obstetrics in June of 2014, she has been in practice in western Michigan since 2003.
As a nurse midwife, Amy feels that she is in the perfect place to make a positive impact on women’s, family, and society health. She feels that she is in a unique position to help a woman trust her body and the progress of personal health, pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood. She believes that all women and families come to the process of pregnancy and parenting with unique expectations, hopes, and fears. It is her job to listen to these needs and guide the family in making choices which will optimize not only a healthy birth, but a positive transition to parenthood and a growing family.
Amy is excited about multicultural care, sexuality and contraception, menopausal care, teen health, low and moderate risk pregnancy, and psychological well being. She is currently studying to become a menopause practitioner through the North American Menopause Society.
Amy recently moved to the area and lives with her two young sons and dog. She enjoys anything outside including camping, boating, biking and hiking. She is very excited to be back on the eastern side of Michigan with all of the cultural diversity it offers.
